Leslie Z. Benet, Ph.D.
Chairman

Professor Leslie Benet is a world authority on pharmacokinetics and drug delivery. He is a Professor and the former Chairman of the Department of Biopharmaceutical Sciences, University of California, San Francisco. He is also the former President of the Academy of Pharmaceutical Sciences and the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy, and the founder and first President of the American Association of Pharmaceutical Sciences. Professor Benet has served the U.S. Food and Drug Administration as a member of the FDA Science Board, of the FDA Pharmaceutical Sciences Advisory Committee, and as former Chair of the FDA Expert Panel on Individual Bioequivalence. He is a Board member, Scientific Advisory Board Member or consultant to more than 20 pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, and has founded or co-founded two such companies. Professor Benet is the recipient of numerous awards, most notably the AAPS Distinguished Service Award, the APhA Takeru Higuchi Research Prize, and the AAPS Wurster Research Award in Pharmaceutics. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of California, San Francisco and is also the recipient of five honorary doctoral degrees.
